clay pigeons

My name is jay. I'm from the midwest. I live in chicago and grew up around the great lakes (and elsewhere). I work in archives and special collections, but I won't say which here.

I write, make visual art, and play banjo. I'm interested in race, capitalist accumualation, and ecology in the midwest-great lakes-rust belt, and explore that in my work. Passenger pigeons (Ectopistes migratorius) are a frequent haint/partner/muse in this work. I enjoy collaborating and improvising with others.

I ride my bike often and for long(-ish) distances, when I remember to clean and lubricate my chains. I do ecological conservation volunteering in the cook county forest preserves, and manage burn piles during woody invasive season.

This website is under construction. There are features I have disabled until I actually have something to put on them. I hope to put art and casual research findings here, as well as links to cool sites by friends, acquaintances, and discovery. Keep an eye on here.
